Streams of Gold
Thai & Golden Mahseer Fishing – Thailand, S.E. Asia
Fly fishing on golden streams is pure magic, and the 24 carat moments remain indelibly etched on one’s mind for a lifetime. Fly fishing for Thai & Golden Mahseer on a small stream in the jungles of South East Asia is a surreal experience…

The stream looks like home… only its a lot warmer! The Mahseer behave exactly as trout do… but they fight dirtier!

Actually, its remarkable how similar Mahseer are to big brown trout. They take nymphs, dries and streamers, sit predictably on exactly the same feeding positions, and are almost as wary!

This one took a #6 Royal Wullf (chartreuse) They spook at drag, visible fly lines, poor casts, people movement etc. Stealth is important, accurate casting required, and line control is crucial.

Fishing these streams of gold for Thai & Golden Mahseer is so much like fishing in New Zealand, its like deja vu all over again!
