Giant Snakehead Spawning – August For BIG Fish
Trophy-size Giant Snakehead are most likely to be caught in mid-August. We would suggest you book around 10th to 20th of August for the chance of the biggest fish in Sirikit Lake. This has been constantly one of the most reliable times to fish for Giant Snakehead during their spawning, which often results in the largest fish caught.
The “baby-fry” fishing is one of the most exciting forms of fishing, 90% top water, 10% sinking lures. This is not the time to catch large numbers of fish, but the chances of huge fish are certainly there. Over the last few years we have constantly caught 7 – 8 kg fish, with many around 10 – 12kg hooked and lost. Realistic numbers of fish per angler, are 2 per day, per fisherman. Sometimes less, sometimes more, but that is a true average, but as mentioned the fish are normally all over 6 – 7kg.
Using our 5.5 meter Boston Whaler type boat, with ample room for 2 anglers, we fish hard from early morning to sunset. Often its only 1-2 hours of the whole day that yield the great results. This type of fishing is probably more accurately described as “hunting”, as we never know when the “targets” will show themselves.
The trip is all inclusive, transport to and from airport, full board, guiding and equipment (rods, reels) if needed, lures, food and drinks (non-alcoholic). A private chef prepares all meals, western breakfast (or porridge), as well as good lunch.
